Nick Miller Nick Miller moves with dexterity and conviction to and from the figure, portraiture, still life, and the landscapes made from a truck converted for use as a mobile studio. All are connected by a common approach to working only directly in the presence of his subject. Drawing and painting are given equal measure and are driven by a commitment to distil the energy and reality of the encounter between artist and subject. His resulting work has a unique intensity of vision and realisation that continues to challenge expectations of being in, seeing and painting the world. While the genres he paints are at the heart of the tradition, his work is both contemporary and timeless.

Born in 1962, Miller is a member of Aosdána since 2001 and has exhibited widely in Ireland and internationally including solo exhibitions at:New York Studio School, USA; Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris; Limerick City Gallery;Butler Gallery, Kilkenny; Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin; Irish Museum of Modern Art Dublin; Rubicon Gallery, Dublin; Art Space Gallery, London; Kilkenny Arts Festival; The Lowe Gallery, Atlanta USA; Fenderesky Gallery, Belfast; Galerie D’Eendt, Amsterdam and The City Arts Centre, Dublin. In 2002 he curated the visit to Ireland of Chinese artist Chen Zhongsen including amongst other events a joint exhibition at The Model Arts and Niland Gallery, Sligo.
